Using a sponge applicator, smudge the black edge of the upper lashes to achieve the gothic look. How to Apply Mascara Like a Pro (Best Beginner Tutorial)

How to Apply Mascara Like a Pro (Best Beginner Tutorial)

Thick lashes add drama and intensity to your eyes. If you know how to apply mascara, you can achieve this look with ease. Makeup enthusiasts and experts alike know that a swipe or two of mascara can significantly affect the length and volume of lashes, giving you a stunning look. But beginners need help with the application process, and we’re here to help. Swipe up to find out more!

Step 1: Start with clean eyes and lashes

Make sure there are no traces of makeup on the lashes. A clean substrate is always good to prevent clumping.

Step 2: Curl your eyelashes

Looking straight ahead, hold the eyelash curler at the base of the lashes (but not too close). Now look down and gently press on the lashes. Repeat 3 times while moving towards the tip of the lashes. Depending on your needs, you can choose black or brown for the application.

Tips: Another way to curl your eyelashes is to place your index finger at the base of your eyelashes, look down and hold for 6 seconds. Do this if you are uncomfortable using an eyelash curler.

Step 3: Start in the middle

Open the mascara tube and wipe off the excess product with the applicator. Look directly in the mirror and place the applicator at the base of the lashes. Sweep the applicator up to coat your lashes from root to tip. You can “wiggle” the applicator to ensure it evenly coats the lashes.

Step 4: Go to the corners

Now comes the tricky part: coat the corners of your eyes. Use the applicator tip to cover the corners of the lashes. Coat them evenly from root to tip. This will prevent the mascara from smudging or transferring.

Step 5: Use a clean spoolie brush to prevent clumping

Using a spoolie brush or lash comb, comb your lashes down and then up to prevent clumping. Do this before the first coat of mascara has completely dried.

Step 6: Apply a second coat

Follow the same technique to apply a second coat of mascara.

How to Apply Mascara Like a Pro

Step 1: Insert a tissue

Tilt your head down and look straight into the mirror. Place a tissue under your lower lashes to protect the eye area.

Step 2: Start in the middle

Wipe off the excess mascara and apply to the middle part of your lower lashes.

Step 3: Apply to corner lashes

Coating the corner lashes can be tricky. Hold the wand vertically and use the tip to cover each lash on the inner and outer corner of your eye. This technique works best for shorter or finer lashes on the lower eyelid.

How to Dress for a Job Interview – Dos and Don’ts

How to Dress for a Job Interview - Dos and Don'ts

Well it’s true; Regardless of your accomplishments, the way you dress will make an impression at your interview. Aware of the seriousness of the situation, today we are going to show you how to dress for a job interview. Always remember that awkward dressing should be out of the question at all. If it is your dream job that you are being interviewed for, you must look neat and well-groomed. Your interviewer should be able to see that you are really passionate about your work. There are many do’s and don’ts about dressing smartly for an interview. But you don’t need to worry about that because we’ve covered it all below. So read the article.

1. Climbing the career ladder

Are you a debutant in the big corporate world? Or do you climb the ladder? In any case, you should already know that company and customer positions are all about communication, friendliness and your specialist knowledge. It’s also about the way you present yourself. Paola Farina, Personal Stylist, suggests: “First impressions are the most important and are formed through clothing and non-verbal communication. Appropriately “dressed appearance” (the right clothes for the job, but also the right clothes for us) boosts our self-esteem and makes us feel more confident and appropriate for the position.” And that’s why, in the end, your clothes say a lot about you, even before you actually say anything. Lead with an overall well-groomed and tidy appearance – that alone conveys an awareness of yourself and your environment. Then follow the small details that we pointed out below.

Profile Examples – Media, Advertising, Sales, Business Development, Aviation Industry, Consulting, etc.

what you should know

Dress as this is as formal as can be.

You can follow the latest trends and experiment with the shirt (top) you wear indoors, but stick with it.

Opt for darker colors for suits, jackets, blazers, trousers and skirts and lighter colors for shirts, tops and blouses. Make sure they are tight and snug.

Makeup and accessories should be minimal; Sandals should be closed – preferably anything under 3-4 inches.

Pencil skirts or one-piece dresses are other exciting options. However, pay attention to the length. The correct length is knee length or just below the knee.

Cigarette and ankle length pants are other options that will keep you stylish and on point.

2. Her big step in the fashion industry

The biggest myth surrounding fashion jobs is that you’re expected to show up in fancy, over the top, and quirky clothes just because you’re in the industry. It doesn’t work that way, and it’s not expected of you when you go to the interview. Everyone has their own style, so just stick with it and let it be who you are. Show them what you can contribute without saying anything. Yes, by all means stay stylish and fashionable but don’t pretend and try to blend in somewhere you don’t belong. Avoid wearing a tie if you don’t know how to tie a tie just because you think it will make you look smart in a job interview.

Farina adds: “Clothes that don’t belong to us make us look like idiots. Our posture and the way we walk looks strange and we don’t feel safe. My advice is: find your style as a signature and don’t try to be someone else just to impress.” Your dress has nothing to do with your creativity or talent in the chosen field.

Profile Examples – Design Assistant, Designer, Stylist, Personal Shopper, Fashion Writer or Editor, etc.

what you should know

Your dress should be specific to the industry you are aiming for. Keep the brand’s aesthetic in mind, but don’t overdo it.

Keep all your clothes understated, stylish and elegant.

Leave her with a sense of intrigue. Wearing branded labels might not always be as cool as you think. Farina advises, “Especially when interviewing for a job for a specific brand, I strongly recommend not wearing clothing that belongs to a competitor.”

Let details like your accessories, scarves, bags, shoes and fine jewelry draw attention.

And since this is an interview, everything should definitely be straightforward and formal.

3. Interested in a finance job or investment banker?

An industry that is not readily permeable. You need to be badass, tough and smart but polite and to the point. So it’s a double-edged knife, so your personality is key. You should work on that. That’s why it’s crucial to make an impression at an interview, and a good one at that. You know what they say: fashion changes, but style stays the same. This industry is a clear sign of that. So don’t experiment too much and stay safe.

Profile Examples – Investment Banker, Banker, Portfolio Manager, Relationship Manager, Financial Advisor, Advisor, etc.

what you should know

Stick to your regular black, gray, or blue suits. Choose what you like, but still choose a suit.

This shouldn’t be too difficult because you look at every job profile – everyone is at their best in this industry.

Some companies are okay with small printed dresses and suits, but these can wait until you get the job.

That doesn’t mean you have to wear the same old-school interview pants. Wear the latest in office wear, but again, it has to be professional. I can’t stress this enough.

How to Dress for a Job Interview - Dos and Don'ts

4. Crack the creative role

It’s one of the most progressive industries and you are judged differently here than in the mainstream industries. Creativity reigns supreme here, but you are expected to come in neat and presentable attire for interviews. It shouldn’t be edgy or sloppy. Keep these things in mind!

Profile examples – writer, director, photographer, art or creative director, editor, etc.

what you should know

Jeans, corduroy, and other semi-formal pants are acceptable, but let them be dark and unripened.

Wear a silk/chiffon/georgette shirt or top. Put it in if you can.

Pair them with accessories but keep them minimalist.

One-piece dresses are good, but not too short. That’s never acceptable for an interview.

The company, brand, or manufacturing house you’re interviewing for might be pretty laid back, but it’s important to be presentable and formal when interviewing.

5. The next big thing - startups

One of the perks of working in a startup is that you don’t have to worry too much about the dress code. And most of them are pretty laid back with whatever you wear. One less (big) thing to worry about. They all, including the founder, mostly graduated straight from college, or at least it feels like it. So you can’t be overly formal or informal. Find the right balance between elegant, casual and formal.

Profile Examples – Programmer, Developer, Coding, Application Development, Web Designer, Analyst, etc.

what you should know

Visit their website for an overview.

Semi-formal or smart-casual attire usually works.

As long as the dress isn’t too short or too revealing, you’re good to go.

In summary, interview dress is a crucial aspect of making a positive first impression on potential employers. By following the “dos and don’ts” you can ensure that your appearance is consistent with the company culture and the position you are applying for.

Remember to dress professionally, with well-fitting and appropriate clothing, paying attention to details such as accessories and personal grooming. The goal is to present yourself as confident, capable and passionate about the job, regardless of the industry or position you are applying for.

Can you use Selsun Blue for skin problems?

Can you use Selsun Blue for skin problems?

Selsun Blue is a common trade name for selenium sulfide. It is commonly used in anti-dandruff shampoos. It reduces scalp oiliness and itching and slows the growth of dandruff-causing skin cells on the scalp. Additionally, there is anecdotal evidence that applying Selsun Blue to the skin may help treat several skin conditions in addition to treating an itchy scalp.

But what does science say? Is Selsun Blue safe to use on skin? Or does it deal more damage? In this article, we discuss the skin benefits of Selsun Blue and its potential risks. Continue reading.

Benefits of Selsun Blue for the skin

Selsun shampoo contains selenium sulfide, a substance that effectively treats a number of scalp conditions such as dandruff and psoriasis by reducing inflammation and inhibiting skin cell proliferation. Read on to learn more about Selsun shampoo uses and benefits you should know.

Can you use Selsun Blue for skin problems?

1. Can help treat skin thickening

One study suggests that topical application of a selenium sulfide lotion or shampoo can treat hyperkeratosis (thickening of the outer layer of skin), particularly on the palms and soles (1). In the study, three people with hyperkeratosis were successfully treated with selenium sulfide in a 2.5% lotion/shampoo or 2.75% foam with no side effects. Moreover, the response was not only quick, but complete and sustained.

2. Can help treat seborrheic dermatitis

This skin condition is characterized by red patches with yellow-grey scales that mainly appear on the face, scalp, upper chest and back. One study found that selenium sulfide in concentrations of 0.5% to 2.5% in lotions, ointments, creams and jellies can help treat the skin condition effectively. In addition, concentrations of 0.5% and 1% were found to be less irritating and as effective as the higher concentrations (2).

This disease can often occur in conjunction with other skin conditions such as acne vulgarisi and eczema (3). Therefore, treating seborrheic dermatitis can help reduce flare-ups of these conditions as it acts as an anti-infective.

3. May help treat pityriasis versicolor

Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor is a skin condition that causes hyperpigmented and hypopigmented scaly patches. It is caused by the fungus Malassezia furfur. Research suggests that selenium sulfide can effectively treat this skin condition due to its antifungal properties and also shows better efficacy than sodium sulfacetamide (4). However, it can have certain adverse effects. So be careful.

4. May help treat skin rashes

Selenium sulfide is an antifungal. Anecdotal evidence suggests that it can be used to treat skin rashes. However, consult a dermatologist before using Selsun Blue for rashes as it may cause side effects in some individuals.

These are the potential skin benefits of Selsun Blue. But how do you use it to get the results you want?

How to use Selsun Blue for skin

Selsun Blue is for cutaneous use only. Make sure to shake the packaging before use (as indicated on the packaging). Remove jewelry before using the product. Rinse your hair and scalp before using the product to treat seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff on the scalp. Massage the product in and leave it on for the prescribed time. Check the label to see if the product can be used on color safe and treated hair. Keep in mind that each skin or hair care product may have slightly different usage instructions. So be sure to pay attention.

For tinea versicolor, apply selenium sulfide to the affected area. Add a few drops of water to create foam. Leave it on the skin for about 10 minutes and wash it off.

Wash your hands after using selenium sulfide. Do not leave this medication on your hair, scalp, or skin for an extended period of time. Also, do not use it more often than specified.

Consult a doctor or pharmacist if your condition worsens or does not improve despite using Selsun Blue.

Note: Do not put products containing Selsun Blue in your eyes, nose or mouth. Avoid use on broken or inflamed skin unless directed by a doctor as it may cause swelling and irritation.

Selenium compounds are not easily absorbed through the skin. Therefore, using medicated shampoos containing selenium is generally considered safe. However, side effects such as contact dermatitis can still occur (5). Read the section below to learn more about the other side effects of Selsun Blue.

Selsun Blue: Side Effects and Precautions

Redness, burning, itching, stinging and irritation of the skin

Sore scalp, increased oiliness of the skin and hyperpigmentation of the nails

   hyperpigmentation of the scalp

   discoloration of the scalp

   Alopecia (hair loss)

In rare cases, the smell of the medication can cause nausea

Note: Children under the age of five and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use Selsun shampoo.

Do not use Selsun shampoo if:

You are allergic (hypersensitive) to selenium sulfide or any of the other ingredients in the medicated shampoo. You should always do a patch test before using it according to the directions for your condition to make sure you are not sensitive to the product.

You have broken or severely inflamed skin

Did you know that the food we eat contains selenium? But does it make the food healthy or harmful? Keep scrolling for the answers.

Is It Wrong to Eat Foods Containing Selenium?

No. Selenium is an essential nutrient for humans and animals. Humans get most of their daily selenium intake from food and to a lesser extent from water. However, selenium can be harmful if taken regularly in larger amounts than necessary (6).

The severity of side effects depends on how much selenium is taken and how often. Brittle hair and deformed nails can also develop when slightly excessive amounts of selenium are ingested over a long period of time.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that in extreme cases, people can also lose feeling and control of their arms and legs. Swallowing a large amount of selenium supplements can be life-threatening without prompt treatment.

In summary, while Selsun Blue (contains selenium sulfide) is primarily used as an anti-dandruff shampoo, there is evidence that it may have potential benefits for certain skin conditions. Because of its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, it can help treat skin thickening, seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor, and skin rashes. However, it is important to use it as directed and to consult a dermatologist before applying it to the skin.

Selsun Blue is generally considered safe for use on the skin and selenium is not readily absorbed through the skin. However, like any medicinal product, it can still cause side effects such as skin redness, itching, irritation, and hair loss. It is important to patch test and avoid use on broken or inflamed skin.

Butylene Glycol in Skin Care: Everything You Need to Know

Butylene Glycol in Skin Care: Everything You Need to Know

The list of popular ingredients in the skin care industry is constantly evolving. The once popular and now controversial ingredient propylene glycol is replaced by butylene glycol — a compound believed to be less harmful to skin (1), (2). There are many benefits of butylene glycol for skin. It is incredibly effective and produces extremely positive results after the first use. In addition, it has a light texture and provides excellent hydration to the skin. It is suitable for all skin types.

This article is for you if you have any doubts about using products that contain butylene glycol. We will go through the advantages, uses, advantages, disadvantages, concerns and precautions of using this component. Let’s begin!

Butylene Glycol in Skin Care: Everything You Need to Know

What is butylene glycol?

Butylene Glycol is a type of organic alcohol derived from petroleum, distilled corn, and sugar cane. It is a common ingredient in many personal care products and is widely recognized in dermatology for its anti-aging properties and beneficial effects. This water-soluble ingredient works great as a texture improver and is similar to Propylene Glycol but with a lighter texture. In appearance, it is a clear, odorless, viscous liquid. It is known for its slightly sweet taste and bitter aftertaste.

There are four forms of butylene glycol that vary in composition and provide a variety of skin care benefits depending on their formula and structure.

1,2-Butanediol: It acts as a humectant and solvent. It is extremely effective in reducing the overall viscosity of a product and improving the skin penetration ability of other ingredients.

1,3-Butanediol: This is the most commonly used form of butylene glycol. At the same time, it is an effective alternative to propylene glycol and glycerin because of its better dissolving power. It also has moisturizing properties, reduces the viscosity of products while preventing their drying and crystallization. It is considered non-toxic because it does not cause skin irritation at a safe concentration.

2,3-Butanediol: It is an effective viscosity reducer but is not commonly used in skin care products. Because not much research has been done to understand the toxic side effects, this form of butylene glycol has not yet been used in skin care products.

1,4-Butanediol: It is typically used as a solvent in cosmetic products. However, it offers limited properties and is commonly used in eye products as it is non-irritating to the eyes.

Butylene Glycol in Skin Care: Everything You Need to Know

1. Moisturizes and smoothes the skin

Butylene Glycol acts as an emollient and humectant, helping to retain skin moisture by creating a barrier on the skin. This ultimately prevents water loss and nourishes the skin from the inside. Thus, in theory, it functions as a perfect skin care product (3).

2. Acts as an effective solvent

Butylene glycol is poorly soluble and is often combined with ingredients that are not water soluble. Due to its solvent properties, poorly soluble ingredients can be easily broken down without clumping, allowing for easy application and improved product penetration (4).

3. Moisturizes the skin

Due to its moisturizing properties, butylene glycol easily binds water and attracts water molecules to the outer layer of skin (5). Thus, it can provide the skin with sufficient moisture.

4. Treats acne

Butylene glycol is commonly used in moisturizers to treat acne. Although this ingredient may not treat acne directly, its moisturizing and loosening properties help treat the associated symptoms of dry, acne-prone skin (6).

Note: Before using this ingredient, consult a dermatologist about your acne symptoms, the cause of your acne, the level of skin sensitivity, etc., otherwise your acne may become worse.

Butylene Glycol in Skin Care: Everything You Need to Know

5. Acts as a viscosity reducing agent

Butylene Glycol ensures that the other ingredients in your skin care product do not stick to each other, thus ensuring a fluid and even consistency of the product.

Now that you understand the benefits of butylene glycol, let’s turn to the elephant in the room.

Is Butylene Glycol Safe for Skin?

Although butylene glycol is used in antifreeze because it lowers the freezing point of water, it is not as toxic as ethylene glycol. However, there is still a lot of controversy surrounding this ingredient due to the following misconceptions:

Its manufacturing process is unsustainable: because this ingredient is synthetic, there is a misconception in the beauty industry that it is toxic, when it is not. According to the Environmental Working Group, butylene glycol is rated 1 out of 10 (with 10 being the most dangerous) on the “hazard scale” (7).

Sensitivity Due to High Levels in Manufacturing Process: Because high levels of butylene glycol are used in the manufacture of skin care products, there is a concern that irritation and sensitivity could occur. But if the right manufacturing safety guidelines are in place, there is no need to worry.

It dries out your skin: Butylene glycol doesn’t dry out your skin or make it irritable, even though it’s an alcohol.

The truth is, as long as you’re not allergic to it and don’t have very sensitive skin, you can use products containing butylene glycol every day. Due to its approved uses in cosmetics and skin care, it is considered safe.

Finally, let’s go through the side effects and precautions to keep in mind.

In summary, butylene glycol is a commonly used ingredient in skin care and cosmetic products known for its moisturizing, smoothing and viscosity reducing properties. Derived from organic sources such as petroleum, corn, and sugarcane, it comes in a variety of forms with different benefits.

Overall, butylene glycol is considered safe for the majority of users as it is rated low on the hazard scale by the Environmental Working Group. However, as with any skin care ingredient, there is a possibility of allergic reactions in some individuals. Therefore, it is important to patch test before using any product containing this ingredient, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Black girls makeup ideas for different occasions

Black girls makeup ideas for different occasions

Gone are the days when makeup for black girls was a tricky business, as women of color had to settle for products that didn’t suit their skin color and skin tone given the limited production of cosmetic products. As the world advances on all fronts and embraces diversity and all-integrity, the idea of “unity in diversity” has become central to all industries large and small, including the beauty and makeup industries. From black industry pioneers creating cosmetics for people of color to models of different ethnicities breaking the shackles and experimenting with fashion and makeup, we’re fast moving toward a world that embraces all skin tones and types. This means you are spoiled for choice when it comes to cosmetics and make-up products, regardless of your complexion or preferences. However, the growing demand for makeup tips for black girls is still largely unmet.

Since every skin tone has different needs, we have compiled some essential and exclusive makeup tips for all black beauties in this article. Now you don’t have to struggle with choosing the right makeup look, products and techniques. Keep scrolling!

The right foundation...always

Creating your own canvas is the be-all and end-all of makeup of any kind. And this is where you get the foundation. But before you buy one, you need to find out about your skin tone to avoid applying the wrong foundation that will only make your face look unnatural. Remember, your goal is to bring out the color of your skin, not cover it up, because you are beautiful just the way you are. Therefore, all you have to do is familiarize yourself with the undertone that defines the base tone of the complexion. Is it warm, cool or neutral? If you wish, here you can take the help of an expert to determine the right undertone for your face, because this is how you can find the right foundation color, which is widely used for African American women. The widest range of colors can be found at brands like Fenty Beauty, LYS Beauty, UOMA Beauty and NARS.

A good brush for a good mix

Once you’ve found the foundation that’s right for you, gently sweep it onto your face to blur any imperfections for a smooth face. But….with a good brush that can help you blend the product properly and easily. Be sure to choose a foundation brush that’s fairly dense, or opt for a kabuki brush. This makes it easier to apply the foundation and ensures a flawless finish. Now, mixing is an art in itself. Once you have applied the product to the face in broader strokes, take a foundation brush and sweep it from the center of your face and sweep outwards. Cover face completely with circular motions to bring out natural skin tone. And make sure you do this until the product blends in perfectly, because the right foundation will keep your face looking natural and makeup staying in place throughout the day.

Mask them with concealer

We are all familiar with the fact that our skin changes over time and with fluctuations in various environmental conditions. We can’t always have a flawless face that we’re blessed with concealers for. Grab one that’s a little lighter than your skin tone and apply it to any blemishes you want to cover. This way you can hide stubborn blemishes and age spots on your face, especially under your eyes and around the bridge of your nose. Like the foundation, buff the concealer until it blends well into the skin. For an even and seamless blend, you can use a small blending brush or a damp cosmetic sponge.

Contour to frame your face

In order to add the right dimension to the face, it is extremely important to do some contouring as well. Use a contour color that is one shade darker than the base coat you applied. In this way you can select the desired areas, e.g. B. the cheek cavity, intensify and soften the areas that need to be highlighted. And the key to perfect contouring is blending until your face looks natural and not made up at all. Plus, you can go for either soft or overly dramatic looks when contouring—whatever makes you happy!

Don't forget the blush

A touch of pink or peach tones on the cheeks is a must. It will make you look fresh as a daisy! Choose the color of your choice, but of course also one that suits your skin again; Tap and brush across cheeks for an instant rosy look. Dab a little of it on the tip of your nose too… really a little, because you don’t want Rudolf’s cherry-red nose. Anyhow, now you can also swipe the blush brush a bit on the chin to slightly bring out the pink tones in your face.

Highlight for the extra drama

Just like framing and smoothing your face, black girl makeup is important to bring the right amount of light to your features. And none other than your highlighter does the job best, because turning a plain-looking face into a cheeky, vivacious one is a boon your highlighter can bring you. Applying highlighter to the raised areas of your face, such as B. the bridge of the nose and the cheekbones, gives the face the necessary swing. Not only will it improve your complexion, but it will also make you glow and stand out from the crowd.

Eye makeup, the key to flawless makeup for black girls

Bring your creativity to life and let your eyes do the talking. Before doing this, however, make sure you have your brows properly shaped, as they play a crucial role in emphasizing the eyes. You don’t have to color them too much; You can easily fill in the sparse areas of your brows and shape them well. Once done, shape your eyes the way you desire (winged eyes, intense black eyes, soft tones are some you can choose) and give life to the lashes by applying a significant amount of mascara to them. Wear false eyelashes for a more dramatic look.

Do the lips like a pro

As a makeup novice, the first thing you need to do is determine your undertone before you start working on your lips as well. This is because today there is a wide range of lip colors designed specifically for African American women. You don’t want to get dizzy when deciding what’s best for you. 10 makeup mistakes you didn’t know you were making

10 makeup mistakes you didn't know you were making

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Some of us are often unaware of the makeup mistakes we make every day. Finding the makeup colors and brands that suit your face is a tricky task at first. It can take years for some to get their makeup right. And once you find the right products, you may still have a hard time getting the look you want. Your favorite beauty influencer may make it look easy, but the truth is that getting makeup perfectly blended is no easy task. But that doesn’t mean you have to stop experimenting. We’re here to explain the most common makeup faux pas to avoid. This will help you figure out the ins and outs and make sure your makeup looks perfect. Swipe up!

1. Excessive washing of your face

Cleaning or washing your face is the first and most important step in makeup. Every woman has a different skin type and as we age our skin undergoes many changes. However, if you apply foundation and notice dry, flaky skin, that’s a sign to stop washing your face excessively.

The ideal is to wash your face twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening before you go to sleep. It is best to use a mild, gentle cleaning agent. The natural skin oils work wonders on your skin and do their job without the annoying soap.

2. Applying makeup to dry skin

Applying makeup on dry skin is one of the biggest makeup mistakes that can make face look dull, cracked, aged and tired. All good things come from a solid foundation, and in this case, a properly hydrated face. Therefore, make sure your face is sufficiently moisturized before applying makeup.

3. Make-up application under wrong lighting

When you have to decide what works for you and what doesn’t when it comes to makeup, you need to test it on your skin in natural light. If you try on makeup in unnatural light, you’ll find that it doesn’t look as flattering as you hoped. Choose what suits you best with the best possible lighting.

4. Wrong mixing techniques

Makeup is much more than dabbing blush or eyeshadow. Even if you apply a neutral shade, it will look unnatural and out of place if you don’t blend it properly. The key to natural looking makeup lies in mastering the art of blending. Makeup that isn’t blended well can look pretty weird. Check out some makeup videos and tutorials online and invest in some good brushes to get started.

5. Incorrect application of concealer

There’s always a conflict when it comes to deciding whether the foundation comes first or the concealer. However, it makes more sense to cover the blemishes after applying the foundation, so it is better to apply the foundation before the concealer. But if you do, here’s what you need to keep in mind.

Never apply too much product to the target area at once. Too much concealer on your under-eye circles makes you look older. The right way to cover up dark circles is to apply a few drops of color correcting concealer to the bones below your eyes and blend. Also, do not apply directly to under-eye circles. You can also use the layering technique. Apply some to the blemish, let it dry and then apply another coat. You can also use a setting powder between layers.

You can’t use one concealer for everything. Concealers come in many colors, each with different uses. A peachy corrector concealer will balance out the blue and is best for combating dark circles. Green neutralizes red, so a green concealer must be used to hide pimples and blemishes. Yellow-tinted concealers work best to even out large areas of skin. Once you use this tinted concealer as your first layer, you must then apply a concealer that suits your skin tone.

10 makeup mistakes you didn't know you were making

6. Too much foundation

Applying too much foundation will damage your face and your makeup will end up looking clumpy. Or even worse: You look like a clown in a costume. In fact, there is no need to apply foundation all over your face unless you are wearing light and transparent makeup. Simply apply to cheeks, nose and eye area. Some women use it to cover blemishes and imperfections, but that’s a concealer’s job.

Make sure you choose the right shade of foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone. Don’t use foundation that’s lighter than your skin tone. Using the wrong shade will only accentuate blemishes, fine lines and anything that is harmful about your skin. Only by using a shade that suits your skin can you get a flawless face. And never forget to mix properly. Be sure to apply it to your neck and ears as well. Otherwise, anyone can tell you’re wearing makeup by a different color of your face and neck.

7. Eyebrow disaster

Eyebrows frame the beautiful eyes which, as they say, are the window to the soul. Neatly shaped eyebrows can make the eyes stand out beautifully. Bushy or overgrown eyebrows appear untidy and unkempt. Thin or tadpole-shaped eyebrows are also unflattering to your eyes and completely transform your look. It is important that you see a professional and get proper advice on how to shape your eyebrows.

Over the years, it’s normal for your eyebrows to get smaller and then you start filling them in. The last thing you want, however, is for them to look drawn and unnatural. A brow pencil works best for a natural look. You absolutely must avoid hard lines.

A dark shadow applied with an angled brush works better than a pencil. You can also use eyebrow cake powders which have everything you need for perfect brows in one small pack.

8. Unwanted shimmer and glitter

Shimmery eyeshadows are very attractive, but applying them all over the eyelid can make them look extremely shiny and overdone. Apply shimmery eyeshadow to the inner eye area or center of the eyelid to accentuate your eye makeup and use a matte eyeshadow for the rest. Ideally, use nude eyeshadow or eyeshadow that’s a few shades darker than your skin tone.

9. Using the wrong eyeliner

It’s best to only use black eyeliner if you have darker skin tones, otherwise it will look quite harsh. If you have a lighter skin tone, it’s best to stick with brown liners. Black is taboo if you have blonde hair and blue eyes.

Here are a few tips for using your eyeliner:

Always choose a lighter or more subtle color for your lower lids.

Using a liner on your waterline is not a good idea. Instead, use a nude pencil on your waterline as this will open up your eyes and make them look bigger.

For a more natural look, it is best to only apply it to three quarters of the upper eyelid.

There’s no point in drawing hard, marker-like lines. For a natural look, use pencil liner instead of liquid liner.

10. Mascara Mistake

First things first: you must use a mascara that is two shades darker than your eyebrow color. Never apply more than two coats of mascara or your lashes will look extremely clumpy. Mascara that is three to four months old can also lead to clumping of the eyelashes.

Don’t apply mascara to your lower lashes the same way you apply it to your upper lashes. It clumps and gives your spider leg lashes. Instead, hold the wand vertically and apply.

Waterproof mascara is obviously great and there’s a good chance you tend to invest in one and only use that. But it’s not a very good idea. Waterproof mascara is much more difficult to remove and applying and removing it could seriously damage your lashes. Your eyelashes may wither earlier. If you must use waterproof mascara, make sure you only do so during the summer months.

In summary, makeup mistakes are common and sometimes we don’t even realize we’re making them. By avoiding these 10 common makeup faux pas, you can achieve a flawless and polished look that enhances your natural beauty. Remember to prioritize skin care by not over-washing your face and making sure it is properly moisturized before applying makeup.

Proper lighting is essential when testing makeup, and mastering blending techniques can make a significant difference in achieving a natural and seamless look. When it comes to concealer, use the right shades for specific issues and avoid applying too much product. Choose the right shade of foundation that suits your skin tone and apply sparingly for a natural finish.

How to apologize to your friend

How to apologize to your friend

Mistakes are a very human thing. But ignoring them can ruin relationships. So if you screwed up and want to know how to apologize to your friend, you’ve come to the right place. The best way to maintain your bond with your loved one is to acknowledge the wrongs with a sincere apology. A sincere “sorry” can win your friend’s heart back. But if you need a few more words to express your regrets, swipe up and explore the page.

1. Check your tone

Words are important, as are your tone, volume, and body language. The way you apologize can make or break your relationship. So you need to check your tone of voice while apologizing to your partner. If the apology does not sound sincere, it can complicate the situation and lead to a negative outcome.

Try not to escalate the matter by yelling or speaking loudly and sarcastically. It’s both annoying and offensive, which doesn’t solve anything. Even the best words mean nothing if they are uttered with an angry look, rolled eyes and a lack of sincerity. If you don’t want to apologize, it’s better to back off than make things worse. Remember that when you come up with an empty apology, your friend can easily spot it, which can break their trust.

How to apologize to your friend

2. Cool off before apologizing

Before you apologize, organize your thoughts and have a clear idea of “how to apologize to my friend” to avoid getting into trouble. In the heat of the moment, you may utter words that you don’t mean. In such a scenario, words like “I’m sorry” don’t sound even remotely good, followed by “You’re not trying to understand my views.” So before you apologize, take some time to calm down and reflect on your feelings. Don’t be hasty; Otherwise, it may simply mean that you want to work around the tension in your relationship.

3. Take responsibility for your actions

Make your apology clear and show your regret that he has been wronged. Be accountable for your actions and do not try to downplay, justify, or share blame with others. This is your excuse. So focus on what you did wrong.

Get straight to the point and express your remorse and commitment to healing the wound. You can use phrases like “I realize I’ve hurt and misunderstood you.” Include in detail what actually hurt him and what you will do to fix it or prevent it from happening again.

4. Respect and understand his feelings

You cannot expect your friend to forgive you and accept your apology immediately. He may need some time to heal and get rid of his hurtful feelings. Try to understand why your friend is angry with you and give them some time to vent their frustration and disappointment.

Don’t ask for or expect forgiveness—at least not right away. Otherwise, he may remain calm and not listen to you. Instead of blaming him, respect and understand his perspective. Instead of nagging, “Please forgive me,” say, “I hope someday you can forgive me.” Focus on what you can control and listen patiently when he wants to speak.

How to apologize to your friend

5. Don't give excuses

Show you’re sorry and keep your promises. If you justify your behavior, it means you are not ready to apologize. Her actions are nothing more than a ploy to win back his favor, rather than genuine feelings and expressions of regret.

If you’ve made a difference with your apology, make sure you’re ready to back it up with dedicated and thoughtful action. Without a significant change in behavior, your apology is incomplete. Every time you apologize in the same way and try to normalize such actions, it becomes less believable and less acceptable to your friend.

6. Discuss the problem in detail

When someone is hurt, their feelings run deeper than a mere reaction to careless words and thoughtless mistakes. For example, your partner might be mad at you for being late for your date night, but that’s the surface issue. He probably feels like you’re ignoring him, that he’s no longer your priority, or that you’re not trying hard enough to keep the relationship going.

So instead of focusing on the apology or the mistake, dig deeper and prioritize his feelings. A meaningless, hollow apology saves face and serves as a temporary filler, but a genuine and sincere apology can be reassuring and help your friend move on.

7. Work on your relationship

It takes a lot of hard work to maintain a healthy relationship. If you both fight constantly and the issues seem endless and difficult to resolve, seek the help of a relationship counselor for better communication. Express how eager you are to work on your relationship and how excited you are to work out the problems. Reconciliation requires you to make amends. Your friend will appreciate how you deal with the mistakes and solve the matter constructively.

To apologize to your friend effectively, watch your tone and be sincere. Take time to cool off before apologizing to avoid saying things you don’t mean. Take responsibility for your actions and avoid making excuses. Respect and understand your friend’s feelings and don’t expect immediate forgiveness. Discuss the problem in detail, focusing on their feelings. Finally, show your commitment to improving the relationship and be willing to work on it together.
